Our only building to date that features an internal slide! The new visitor centre for the Aldingbourne Trust provides an abundance of everything – more fun, increased space, bespoke training and learning facilities, and most importantly, expanded opportunities to engage with local businesses and people. It is an attractive destination for families, visitors and businesses to support and engage with people with disabilities through various enterprise activities.
The innovative new building plays a crucial role in the Aldingbourne Trust’s mission to support adults with learning disabilities to discover, cultivate and develop diverse skills. The building offers vibrant and stimulating spaces for visitors, clients and staff, enabling the Trust to expand its numerous enterprises.
The successful visitor centre accommodates a gift shop, coffee shop, conference centre and administrative hub.
This unique and distinctive building has helped the Trust mature its identity and establish the centre as a go-to destination. The charity’s employees can now enjoy a central, modern office suite to conduct business, whilst the centre’s clients have access to improved facilities, supporting greater opportunities to work and learn.

The new community space at the Aldingbourne Country Centre exceeds the clients expectations. We have created an energised central hub that attracts visitors all year-round, whether just the café, or the wider site. The new high-end conference suite attracts a wider clientele, while the expanded gift shop, with its increased size, location and spatial quality, has led to increased revenue.
The building is smartly designed, and includes a Changing Places room, which promotes inclusiveness. One of the greatest complements we have received is that the building does not say ‘social care’ – it is a fantastic building to be used by staff, volunteers, visitors and the people we support with disabilities alike.

We wanted a building that was striking enough to make people want to visit it in its own right and to demonstrate that people with support needs can have great buildings that meet their needs. This has been achieved and we are thrilled by the quality of the design, the working environment and implementation of the vision!
