The masterplan consists of the consolidation and provision of a new 12,000m2 further education college building for City College Brighton and Hove, 442 student residential units for the University of Sussex, 125 Residential units comprising a mixture of one, two and three bed apartments, townhouses and two new public squares, public realm improvements and creation of a mews cluster.
Our proposals create a distinctive and coherent masterplan improving townscape legibility, creating stronger links with the surrounding urban context (including York Place and St Peters Church), improving permeability and pedestrian movement by providing safe, active and attractive routes and spaces, creating public frontages and opportunities for street level activity. The masterplan improves visual amenity and builds upon the established area character, it develops visual links to historic and key townscape buildings, including St Barts church, and significantly improves Brighton’s skyline. The masterplan restores the urban grain and regenerates an urban block within the heart of the city.
