The Checkland Building for the University of Brighton delivers new research laboratories, workshops, TV studios, an auditorium and lecture theatres.
This flagship building is located on the scenic Falmer campus, on the outskirts of Brighton, within the South Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Designed to integrate with the Sussex countryside, the laboratory and studio accommodation utilise and step down the hillside creating a unique learning environment. The layout includes flexible breakout spaces, a library, and a central social space that ties together research, laboratories and studios.
Notably, the building was crafted with sustainability in mind, aiming for a BREEAM rating of 'Very Good’.
The Checkland building is one of a number of academic, social and student living projects where HNW have successfully collaborated with the University since developing its masterplan.
