HNW Architects are delighted to share that our designs for the £10m engineering hub at Ashford College have been completed and are already being enjoyed by students.
This project builds on our established relationship with East Kent College (EKC). Following the completion of the first phase building in 2017, this second phase brings essential new teaching facilities to the college, including mechanical engineering, production technology, plumbing & electrical engineering workshops and business and IT facilities - catering for approximately 300 additional student places.
The building boasts “world leading facilities” and has been hailed by Ashford MP Damian Green as a great symbol of the ambition in the town.
He said: “It’s already got a lot of very modern top-of-the-range kit and hopefully, it will produce very modern, top-of-the-range workers”.
Damien Green added: “It’s a good, attractive building which enhances the image of the town.”
Speaking at the unveiling event, EKC chairman Graham Ravey said it was a “wonderful day” for the college and the town.
He added: “Ashford deserves to have this world-leading kit and students are thrilled about it.”
HNW achieved planning permission and worked collaboratively with Jenner Ltd to deliver the project within a tight programme and achieve BREAM Very Good environmental credentials.
We thank East Kent College and the full design team for the constructive delivery process and look forward to working on future exciting projects together.
