London Gatwick Economic Summit

Yesterday was a fascinating day, having been invited to the London Gatwick Economic Summit 2025, bringing together over 200 leaders from across Business, Government, Education and the Visitor Economy to explore how the 'Gatwick Region Airport Economic Zone' (AEZ) can continue to drive growth across Sussex, Surrey, Kent and South London.

The discussions struck a great balance of realism, excitement, and optimism, recognising current and incoming fiscal and planning challenges, but also the potential opportunity that comes with the permission for the northern runway, with devolution, with strong regional partnerships and, importantly, long-term thinking.

Big themes of ‘attitude’ (thanks to Joanna Rowelle) and ‘collaboration’ came through, alongside calls for faster infrastructure delivery, energy resilience, and action on skills and trust, all essential if we’re to turn strategy into delivery.

These conversations feel especially relevant to our own Industrial, Logistics and Commercial work at HNW, where the balance and alignment of place, infrastructure and innovation continue to inform and shape sustainable economic growth across the region.

Thanks to the London Gatwick team and speakers for such an insightful, forward-looking event, to everyone who took part, and to all those I managed to catch up with throughout the day. I look forward to further discussions and continued collaboration around the region’s shared future.
