Community-Led, Heritage-Informed

Phoenix Community Centre

Phoenix Community Centre
The Phoenix Community Centre is a Grade II listed building in central Brighton, owned by Hyde Housing. Underused and in need of modernisation, the building has now been sensitively reimagined by HNW Architects to restore its community purpose.

The proposals retain the community centre at ground floor level, enhanced by a new café with a larger kitchen, direct garden access, and flexible spaces for local user groups – including a food hub, breakfast clubs, youth and art workshops, and community events. The first floor has been converted to provide modern office space for Hyde, giving the organisation a local presence while ensuring the centre’s long-term future.
